The Restoration of the B-29 Superfortress "Doc" with Heartland's help!

In 2013 Heartland Precision Fasteners played a small but vital part in the restoration of the B-29 Superfortress “Doc” — which is one of only two airworthy B-29’s in the world. At the request of the restoration team, Heartland started with a 70+ year old Boeing part standard for an 82° head fastener and developed a modern equivalent (HP2709) to attach the leading edges to the wings. Heartland then manufactured six different dash numbers of the HP2709 part number and donated them to the project. This majestic aircraft was restored by Boeing and Spirit employees and by many other dedicated volunteers in Wichita. We urge everyone to take any opportunity to see this beautiful aircraft.

Heartland awarded Wesco's highest honor!

On the 14th of May, 2019, Wesco Aircraft held its annual Partner Appreciation Event to recognize and honor its partner supplier relationships for global aerospace hardware, electronic products, chemicals, bearings, tools, and machined parts. Heartland Fasteners was thrilled to receive the annual “Most Valuable Partner – Hardware” award. During the event, highly decorated former Army and Army National Guard Soldier, Dan Nevens from the Wounded Warrior Project was introduced. Dan held the entire audience spellbound with his passionate and detailed account of that particular morning back in 2004 in Iraq, where he was severely injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated beneath his vehicle. Dan lost both legs below the knee, and lives with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the emotional wounds of war; however, the remainder of his story which inspired and drove him to become one of the leading spokesperson and promoter of the WWP was truly extraordinary! Many of the partner suppliers that attended the event had made contributions to support Wesco’s association with WWP prior to Dan’s speaking, and a large check was presented to Dan and the WWP at the conclusion of his presentation.
