MANUFACTURING

We specialize in NAS, NA, AN, MS, BAC and ST3M aerospace bolts and screws. We cold and warm head and hot forge in diameters ranging from .090″ to 1.50″ and lengths up to 18″. Our available materials include A286, PH13-8M0 and 300 Series Stainless; alloy steels, Titanium, Inconel, Waspaloy and other exotics. In addition to heading, our manufacturing processes include thread rolling, centerless grinding, fillet rolling, and drilling. Heartland’s lead times are best-in-industry and we are often able to expedite orders on an as-needed basis.

We utilize a state-of-the-art, real time shop reporting system along with a JIT program for our raw material suppliers. Heartland’s customized MRP system offers our customers the ability to track projects in process and a real-time statistical process control program is applied to all key manufacturing processes. Heartland’s premiere quality control process and state-of-the-art shop scheduling allow us to provide our customers with the latest advances in aerospace fasteners. These programs, working in conjunction with customer usage and forecast information, enable Heartland to maintain 95+% on-time delivery rating.

HEAT TREATMENT

The Heartland heat treatment department thermally processes the majority of our fasteners within our facility using our state-of-the-art vacuum furnace. Heartland currently processes A286 corrosion resistant steel (CRES), PH13-8Mo precipitation-hardening stainless steel and nickel alloy 718 (Inconel 718) in conformance with AMS2759 and customer requirements. The ability to perform heat treatment in-house ensures processes are properly performed to meet specification requirements and the equipment is properly operated, maintained and calibrated. Having heat treatment as a captive process also significantly reduces lead times and allows orders to flow through our shop efficiently.

ENGINEERING

The Heartland engineering department has the knowledge and experience to assist you in selecting fasteners for your application.  We can also help create a custom solution to meet your fastener needs. Our engineering team has over 40 years of collective experience in fastener manufacturing, standards, applications and design.  We are an integral part of the National Aerospace Standards Committee (NASC) of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the Aerospace Fastener Standards Advisory Committee (AFSAC) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) E-25 Committee for propulsion systems standards. Additionally, the engineering department prepares, manages and maintains our OEM fastener qualifications.

CHEMICAL PROCESSING

Heartland’s in-house Cadmium plating and Passivation lines provide unparalleled manufacturing flexibility. Our ability to perform these processes on-site allows us to cut weeks from our lead times with substantial savings to our customers. We also perform plating services for other manufacturers.

Types of finishing we offer include:

  • Aluminum Coating performed to NAS4006
  • Cadmium performed to AMS-QQ-P-416 and AMS2400 (NADCAP);
  • Passivation performed to AMS2700 and AMS-QQ-P-35 (NADCAP);
  • Zinc performed to ASTM-B-633;
